Our Mission & Core Purpose

The Alberta Legacy Development Society is entirely volunteer-driven and focused on managing the physical restoration, historic site operation, and community educational programs anchored around the iconic Leduc Heritage Grain Elevator.

As the last remaining wood crib elevator on its original rail line location along the Edmonton-Calgary corridor, this site serves as a physical, touchable link to Western Canada’s farming roots. We open our doors for dynamic heritage events, regular tours, community markets, and seasonal initiatives to transform this landmark into a lively local resource hub.

The Last Remaining Wood Crib Sentinel

Wooden crib grain elevators once dominated the western skyline by the thousands, earning the nickname “Prairie Sentinels.” Today, they are rapidly vanishing. Our society handles the complex structural preservation, mechanical protection, and fire-safing systems needed to keep this monumental piece of Leduc history upright along its original railway line location for ongoing public education.
